General Information on Teething Rings
Author: Miguel Base When babies' teeth slowly makes it way out of the gum's surface, the process is commonly called "teething". At this stage, babies will chew almost anything it can find. They don't care what it is or where it's from. This becomes a nightmare for parents which is why teething rings have been created.
Nowadays, there are numerous types of teething rings available in the market and thankfully, they are free of lead. As a matter of fact, all rings bought in most developed countries are non-toxic, so rest assured that no matter what kind you buy in baby retailers , it will be safe for your baby. Some are made of firm rubber, with or without bumps while others are filled with water and made to be chilled in the refrigerator.
Don’t freeze these types of rings or teethers because they become too hard for the baby and may harm his or her gums. For those parents who want to try something different yet luxurious, you can buy silver teething rings. These can also be chilled in the refrigerator.
Teething rings, teethers and toys which your baby always puts in his mouth should be cleaned constantly. If they are baby gifts that were given by friends and family, check the box or package label to see if the object is dishwasher-safe. It is highly recommended that after cleaning your child’s teething ring, it should be placed in a bottle sterilizer.
Don’t boil water-filled teethers because they might break open and also never tie an object such as a pacifier or teething ring around your baby’s neck. The cord could accidentally tighten and choke the baby or at the very least, irritate his skin.
